More of a Java ME tech-enabled Breeze in the forecast...

I've posted before about Cascada Mobile's Breeze platform which makes building a Java ME application a, well uh... breeze, especially if you want to program using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

See:

Program the Mobile AJAX way for Java ME

But, they use an Eclipse plug-in? Yuck! Dang it. You'd think they could use something other than Eclipse for their fancy Java ME tool. :-)

Hi Hinkmond, just saw your not about our product and thought I'd point out we also have a stand alone "no eclipse needed" simulator/publisher that you can use with your favourite code editors (go vi!). In fact I use that one myself - I won't go as far as to say "Yuck" about Eclipse but we knew lots of people would would rather not be forced to use it :)

Hi Sean,

Thanks for the info! :-) Yeah, Eclipse is OK in the end. I guess it's OK to use instead of NetBeans if there's no other choice. ;-)

TagsMe uses Netbeans:

Are you happy now, Hinkmond ;)

NetBeans is certainly on our list of 'todo' items (and if enough people ask it moves up the list). We felt that for now at least NetBeans users can continue to use it to edit their code (and because we use HTML, CSS and Javascript you get all the type aheads and what not with any plugins you may have). To test your app you simply use our standalone simulator in another window (just point it to the same directory). We definitely don't want to force people into learning new tools just to edit text files. Just as Wendong's blog article mentioned - people get really picky about their dev tools.

Thanks for the interest

Thanks Wendong for the link! I didn't know about TagsMe.

(Sean, I'm glad that NetBeans is on your todo list!)
