Moto motors ahead with Java ME technology plans

Fast Eddie (Zander) was in the news recently, giving his mea culpas and "we'll try harder" speech, trying to regain that magic spark of the RAZR with the ho-hum new line of mobile phones.

See:

At least Fast Eddie likes Java ME in Motorola phones

Here's a quote:

 AJAR, a Java-based platform
 for low-end phones; a Linux/Java
 platform for the midrange; and
Windows Mobile 6 plus Good for
 smart phones.

 "On Linux/Java, we should be
 converting much faster," Brown
 said.
While the next generation Motorola phones look pretty unspectacular, at least Java ME tech will be taking more of the forefront on low-end and midrange Moto phones. Personally, I can't understand why they would go with Windows Mobile 6.0 on their smart phones. Here's their chance to unify on all-Java ME tech across their platforms. It would help cut costs, cut development time, and heck, is just plain cooler than programming in Windows Mobile.

I guess Fast Eddie doesn't mind wasting money. Scary that he thinks that while his company is currently losing profit on the low-end...
