The continuation of Civilization, Java ME tech style
Sid Meier continues to add to his Civilization mobile game series. It's fun to see software developers making money off of Java ME apps and games. It comes naturally for them. See: Sid Meier's Civilization Mobile Game on Java ME Tech Here's a quote: With more than 7 million units sold worldwide since its launch, Sid Meier's Civilization 3... [is] among the most popular PC games. Com2uS has utilized its long experience in creating great mobile games to bring Civilization 3 to the mobile platform. The game is available for Java and BREW platforms.Civilization continues... Thank G*d! :-) |

Another Java ME game? This is so exciting.

Exciting because it puts money in software developers pockets. :-) Kinda like Google's Android... oh wait. Exactly _opposite_ Google's non-money generating Android. :-)
(You'll also notice out of the 15 listed posts to my blog http://blogs.sun.com/hinkmond on 04Sep2008 that only 2 are about Java ME games. Only 2 out of 15. Seems like a lot, huh? Maybe in some bizarro world way? ;-) )

hinkmond,
the recently announced winners of the ADC contest who are currently sharing $5 million in prize (with another $5 million to come once the devices come out next month) would probably beg to differ, but it's certainly your right to keep on bashing android, this is your blog after all

That's true Google does have deep pockets to pay off their developers with their payola instead of having their Android developers generate revenue that old fashion way of being able to sell their apps. ;-)
There's nothing wrong with paying off your developers, right? Microsoft does it, why not Google? :-)

i don't follow you, the first devices will be coming out next month, how would you expect android developers to be making money for now except from the contest?
if anything, android developers are making money much earlier than most j2me programmers ever did (it's not like sun would create a contest to generate some excitement about j2me)

Sun had contests last millennium:

Sprint in 2001:

Then, again 2002:

Sun didn't have to do contests anymore. It's so last millennium. Motorola was doing that for us 8 years ago:
