Too many J2ME first-person shooter games

There is an overabundance of first-person J2ME shoot-em-up type games for cell phones out now. Splinter Cell, Prince of Persia, now this Fatal Force, Earth Assault.

Do we really need to protect the Earth from yet another alien assault?

The Bluetooth-enabled multiplayer part is cool, and I know the main buyers of J2ME games are males between 18-25 years old, but gee, it would be nice to see a better variety of J2ME games out there then these kill 'em all type games coming out now.

Plus, with an oversaturated market, gamers are primed to jump over to the next new (and different) game genre.

Err, if you actually worked in the games industry you'd know that variety doesn't sell, familiarity does. Sad but true. Besides, there are already thousands of J2ME games on the market - it's only the ones which are successful - and familiar - that find success.

Augmented reality games (where the game incorporates something from your surroundings, like location or digital photos):

Okay, so this example is a mosquito shoot-em-up game. Not the best example, but you get the idea. :-)
