Prophecy
(In Boston, we take our baseball seriously. The Boston Red Sox won the American League East Division Title. The new york yankees also earned a playoff berth. First, the Red Sox play the Los Angeles Angels and the yankees play the Cleveland Indians. At such a moment, when the American League Pennant -- and eventually perhaps the World Series -- hang in the balance, many of us lift our hearts toward God...)

As I was rising from my bath this morning, the spirit of prophecy came upon me. I felt the spirit of God move in my heart and bring words to my lips:
Arise, you knights of Boston!
You are Anointed unto God
to go forth from your City to do battle.
Gird up your loins and take up the Flag of destiny
And wrap it around you like armor.
Engage to the finish
And emerge victorious for the greater glory
of Light and Truth and Laughter and Salvation.
Bring home the gold.
And it is not enough that the Red Sox must win.
The yankees must lose.
They shall be humbled from their high places.
They shall be shown
In the face
That great money and great power
Are as nothing in the eyes of the Lord.
Their hearts shall be made low
And they shall wallow in despair.
Be gentle to those called Angels.
Set them down gently in the arms of the Lord
and tend to them and protect them.
Let them down easy,
for they too are children of the Lord.
I call upon you to do All this
In the name of the Most High.
Accept this mantle
And set it not down!
Be you the warriors of Truth!
And then we in Boston consented and said:
This we ask in the name of God and in all the Names of God.
And God spoke and said, "Since you have asked, so shall it be". Amen
