Yesterday, Sun Microsystems announced its intent to acquire Vaau, a premier provider of Enterprise Role Management (ERM) and identity compliance solutions.

Jim McHugh, Sun VP Software Infrastructure Marketing stated, "As a leader in enterprise role management and identity certification, Vaau provides an integrated set of capabilities to automate and enforce internal security controls that will further enhance Sun's ability to provide comprehensive solutions to our customers across the full spectrum of governance, risk and compliance."

I heartily endorse this decision and welcome Vaau into the Sun Identity Management fold. Role Management is clearly a strong need in the enterprise Identity Management industry. We have been working with Vaau closely for several months. This acquisition will strengthen Sun's position as the market leader in this space.
