Innovating Inside the Box

On this edition of “Innovating@Sun”, Sun's Vice President of Systems Engineering, Hal Stern, interviews Vice President of Advanced Technology and Eco-Responsibility, David Douglas, about "Project Blackbox” a prototype for a virtual, modular datacenter loaded up with servers, storage, and networking, packaged up in a standard shipping container for deployment anywhere where you want it, when you want it.

The main points David and Hal discuss include: deployment scenarios, technical issues, such as shock and vibration, cooling, and energy efficiency, and the "secret sauce" for Project Blackbox.
