James Gosling: on the Java Road

Back in the saddle
Holidays are over... Surgery recovery is (mostly) over... And work is looking like it's usual crazy self. *way* too much stuff going on. Among them:
- duke.java.sun.com (the open-source site for Duke) has a bunch of new material, including versions of the Duke and Tux 3D models converted to other formats.
- The documentation web (doc.java.sun.com) is getting more mature. Killed some nasty bugs. I added simple support for right-to-left languages like Hebrew and Arabic. I'm at the limit of my ability to test it (I don't know either Hebrew or Arabic, so my understanding of the issues is weak). Any volunteers?
- Congratulations to the NetBeans team! They got a
Technology of the Year Award
from Infoworld.
- I'm so in love with the profiler in NetBeans.
- I've been having fun with a funky Java game: Bang! Howdy!. Yikes!
- I've also been having a lot of fun with JOGL. It's become pretty damn cool.

Hi!
Tell you what: that AJAX business can annoy when you want to copy a URL:
Notice that the URL for the documentation of javax.sound.sampled.AudioSystem (for instance) is just 'http://doc.java.sun.com/DocWeb/'.
OK, just FYI.
Ciao.Steven Coco.
