I've been having a lot of fun with Rob Cooper and
Joshua Marinacci's
AB5k
Widgets for the World system.
It's vaguely like Mac OS X's Dashboard, Vista's Sidebar, and Yahoo's Widgets, except that it works
everywhere: OS X, Solaris, Linux, Windows (Vista, XP, 2000, ...).
Anywhere Java runs. It also lets you use all the Java APIs: 3D, networking, all of it...
Very cool.

Seems like a good opportunity to insert a shameless plug to my own desklet; Magnetic Desklet v0.1
Will be updating it to the new API soon, plus adding more features and better animations (love that timing framework!)
