Heading for Beantown

The Tech Days tour kicks off next week in Boston. I'll be there, along with a pile of folks who actually know what they're taking about. We'll be spending a couple of days doing presentations on topics from the latest SE, EE & ME techniques, through desktop, SOA, web, scripting, NetBeans and a pile of other topics. There will also be sessions covering Solaris. Permalink Comments [4]

You forgot to mention what is undoubtedly the best part of your trip. And that old video a few entries down-your hair looked so much better.

The Java Development Track is hosting a talk on:
Consumer JRE: Java on Every Desktop OR Java Performance Myths

The Myth part, isn't that kind-a true?
Java APIs have really become bloated.
There are too many ways to do the same thing.

Isn't there any hope that things can be simplified?

Any chance for Java in/on the coffemaker, or is it already there, and I just haven't seen one, coffemakers running java? :)

Nevermind. I found some, although, it doesn't seem like Sun(or anybody else) is pushing them. What gives? Java was supposed to be the language of tomorrow found on/in everything. the way I saw it in a dream was everything in a house with embedded Java, running/networked via an UltraSPARC running Solaris with a touch screen handheld controller for the "master"/ "mistress" of the house. Oh well, such are dreams, sometimes.
On a completely unrelated note, is Sun or you doing anything on the LHC(Large Hadron Collider) project of CERN's? I think it would be way cool, if Sun did get in on this(not just because they'll be producing real black holes, and ultra-weird things happen around black holes), but for strengthening the Java-Sun-CERN-WWW connection. Once upon a time, ya know...
