Kudos to the Ubuntu team!

I just installed Ubuntu 6.06 and it was the nicest out-of-the-box install experience I've ever had with Linux - real competition for the folks at Apple. Thanks for the lovely piece of work! Permalink Comments [2]

I tried it out - yes, it works nicely, but I found Knoppix (runs from CD-ROM as well) boots quite a bit faster, and offers more applications from the start (the DVD version of Knoppix has pretty much everything on board, including development tools). One point for Ubuntu: it even recognized the wireless adapter of my Acer laptop (alas, the driver seems to only support WEP, not WPA). Greetings! Chris
