After the integration of PluginManager to the NetBeans cvs repository there appeared voices about the usability of this feature. Many users were not satisfied with the user interface so they have spoken up about it. The response to that dissatisfaction is improved user interface that you can see in new trunk builds. Complicated renderers were replaced by simplified ones so that the work with the plugin manager is easier now. Important is the change in panel division (area is divided vertically instead of original horizontal division). As for me the most important is that it is possible to install group of plugins at once (it is not necessary to select them apart). It is wort to say that there is added context popup menu with actions like Activate, Deactivate, Select All, Deselect All... For those who prefer plugin-based instead of category-based view there is the magic checkbox "Show plugins details" in Settings tab.

Comments:

So what is the difference between "install" and "activate". How do I uninstall a plugin? How do I see its properties (list of dependent modules, classpath,...). How do I set up the "description" field in the update center text area (settings tab)for my update center? Say I have an extra update center that adds new plugins to an existing category (for ex, Editing), after adding this UC, the new plugins will not be showed in the "New Plugins" tab, but in the "Updates" tab: very confusing for me...

Excellent news. I was looking with Vidhya at the UI the other day, wishing that we'd provide a select all artifact for users that don't want to concern themselves with the details of each module.

Good works. I want more features in this module. 1."Settings" provide "import" from a xml file and "export" to a file function to load my old setting and save current setting . 2.Provide show plugins in list or tree option for user.Provide "Select all/Deselct all" checkbox. 3."Downloaded" may be merged to "New Plugins", in addtion to provide a "add local module" button. 4.Like windws "Add/Remove Programs" window. Show Detail of a plugin when i selected the plugin.Show/Hide the detail as a slide menu in web application. Give a "More detail" link to pop a window to plugins detail with a optional tab for "Plugin Dependency". 5.Unify the UI layout with other component ,such as Option, Profile. For me , I perfer to the "Profile" UI which has a cool slide menu.
