MLB Road Trip Day 2 - New York (part 1)
Next stop - New York. We don't want a car while we're in New York so we decided to take a bus from Boston to New York. And what a great idea. The bus ride is only $15/person and it was comfortable enough for us to rest and catch a little bit more sleep after our long day yesterday. Our bus left at 8am and took four hours to get to Chinatown in Manhattan. When we arrived, I decided to try to race the guys to the hotel by taking the subway while the four of them took a taxi. We were dropped off in Chinatown and our hotel is in Times Square. I lost but only by a few minutes. I was only a block away when Tom called me and they had just checked in and were heading up to the room. I thought that was an interesting New York lesson and I paid for a $7 day pass and their cab ride was only $13. They said their driver was good and fast...and was honking every chance we had. The guys were amused by that.

We were situated in our hotel by 1pm. But I had scheduled a little surprise for the guys. I designed a game called "Jaymazing Race", which is based on the TV show Amazing Race. The guys were randomly selected into two teams - Tom/Julius on one team and Ernest/Jojo on the other team. It is Julius' and Ernest's first time here, so I set them on a whirlwind race through Manhattan. I had them go to Rockefeller Center, and then I met up with them at Gray's Papaya for a hot dog lunch. Then we walked to Strawberry Fields @ Central Park and I sent them off to Battery Park, then the World Trade Center, and then to the final pit stop at John's Pizzeria on Bleeker. I gave them several labeled envelopes that were sealed and a clue to start them off. They had to answer a question correctly based on their location, and that directed them to what envelope to open and how to continue with the race. I'm currently sitting in an internet cafe across the street from the pizza shop, as they finish their race. That's how I was able to post the Day 1 entry.

OK, that's it for now...I should go out and wait for the teams to arrive.

We're watching the Yankees play tonight. Gametime: 8pm

And they're playing the New York Mets...a great subway matchup!
Oh what fun!
