Wednesday March 23, 2005 What is it about this *casting craze? Podcasting, Screen casting, papercasting, and so on. I think we're all going a bit overboard with overloading the 'casting' concept.
To make a point, I plan to invent bodycasting by jumping off the top of the 3rd floor of the building across the street. If I don't kill myself, I will surely break almost every bone in my body and be put in a body cast. I'll then have people write (and sign) their thoughts on my cast which will then be photographed and placed online. An odd twist to "digital signature", don't you think?
Before doing this, I have to check with Human Resources to see if this would be covered under workman's comp ... :)
OK, JUST KIDDING!
(2005-03-23 07:52:38.0) Permalink Comments [0]I have been really geeking out lately. There are no more power outlets as I am charging my cell phone, iPod, Palm and laptop. I may have to start carrying a power strip with me. What is even more entertaining is watching me put on all this gear in the morning. I feel like Batman wearing a utility belt. There is a prime oppty for consolidation. I need the gadget equivalent of zones. In an abstract way, the Nokia 6260 provides many, if not all, of the capabilities the iPod and Tungston/E I use. I now have 3 ways to play the same MP3. But none of the devices excel beyond their primary purpose. Actually, only some of these devices are on the belt. There are all of these sync cables and power cords too. Hey, I'm not fully bluetooth enabled yet. Actually, instead of the utility belt, perhaps I need Dr. Who (Tom Baker's) frock coat, which which is like the "Bag of Holding" in Dungeons & Dragons parlance. Come to think of it, slashdotter's continually compare the Borg with Microsoft, but never the Daleks. Hmmm, I suppose "exterminate" is too harsh. "Assimilate" sounds much nicer :)
It turns out that it is a pretty darn nice day today. Here's a picture from one of the gadgets (cell phone). If you squint really, really hard, you'll see the Hollywood sign. OK, I'm squinting at this picture and even I can't see it. It's there. Honest. Most days you can barely see past the airport, so I'm lovin' this.
Hey, I'm checking email again on my phone .... just because I can. Thunderbird is up-and-running, but that's not the point :) I am finding that I must really keep my inbox at a minimum in order to find value in the low-profile email client. IT must love this.
