Thursday July 29, 2004 I would like to give credit to another blogger who pointed this blog out, but alas its lost in memory. Check out See What you Share on P2P. Cool blog. I got a bit worried at some of the documents I saw coming across, but you should read his link on why his site exists before you rush to judgement.
I do think that what Glen is doing can be potentially dangerous yet is also of extreme value. I must say I *really* enjoy the "day-to-day" pics coming out of Iraq on his blog. It gives me some insight that I don't get from mainstream media. On the down side, its really brings to light how P2P can be used for nefarious purposes. I have already blogged on sharing music using P2P and how some consumers are shooting everyone else in the foot.
Imagine if some serious nationally sensitive documents (from any country) found their way on to p2p networks. Wow. The problem isn't just p2p, it could also be via an anonymous wiki or anonymous post. Unfortunately, with peer to peer networks its harder to apply "peer pressure", shut it down or to figure out who to sue (or put in jail). I see more legislation coming. Lets try to practice some socially safe computing, folks. Thanks Glen for the service you are providing, and I sure do hope you don't post the wrong document ...
