I'm a walking fire hazard

On a regular basis I carry with me my iPod, Bluetooth headset and cellular telephone. Batteries can be hazardous.

I used to occasionally carry AA batteries in my pocket. Until, one day, the change in my pocket closed the circuit on the AA batteries. YYYOUUUCHHH!!! Darn near burned a hole in my pocket. Left a mark. Good news is that there was no long lasting damage.

I don't carry unpackaged  batteries in my pocket any more.

I had a similar thing happen, I had changed the battery in my car lock "fob" and had a spare battery on the nightstand with my spare change and those CR2032s are about the size of a quarter. As you said spare change and batteries don't mix. Luckily the reaction started as I was shuffling the change (with battery) in my hand and dropped it before shoving it into my pocket. PS thank for your help/suggestions with zone scope of work.
