Microsoft Announces 2006 Target Date for Broad Availability Of Windows "Longhorn" Client Operating System.

WinFS will be released after 'longhor'. The beta of WinFS will be released in the period of longhorn's release. 'Avalon' (the new presentation subsystem) and 'Indigo' (the new communication subsystem) will be also available on Win XP and 2003 in 2006.

Nice Olympic Game and Nice Result
After all these days' good job, China team got 32 gold medals and 63 medals totally in Olympic 2004. She is the No. 2 according to gold medals number and No.3 according to the total medals number. This is the No.1 score we've ever got. Here is the medal list of all countries [In Chinese].

The Olympic flag has been transferred to Beijing. Wish a great success for Olympic 2008.

Special day for China today
Today is August 22, 2004. A special day? Why?

Yes. Today is a special day for China. According to the lunar calendar, today is the traditional Chinese Lover Day (just like Santa Valentine's day). Hope every couple happy. 愿天下有情人皆成眷属。

Also, China Olympic team got the 100th gold medal in summer Olympic Games. And, the China Olympic team reach the goal of Olympic 2004 to win 20+ gold medals. They've got 22 gold medals by now, including the 1st gold medal for tennis ball. Congratulations and wish them a continuous bigger progress.

Mozilla 2.0 Roadmap
From the Mozilla 2.0 roadmap (posted in the Mozilla develop day 2004), there are some important changes.

1. Graphics & Content parsing enhancement
Performance improvement, Cairo library support, SVG enhancement, XTF (XTF - an eXtensible Tag Framework for Mozilla) support, Forms support/enhancement

2. As a development platform
Embedding, XUL enhancement (including xulrunner), JS enhancement, Managed Languages support/enhancement

3. UI
Enhanced XUL & JS

There are also still something not clearly defined and needed to be addressed. One important one is that the roadmap is mainly for Firefox. How about the roadmap for Thunderbird and other components like calendar after Mozilla Suite?

1st day in Olympic 2004
In the 1st day, China team won 4 gold medals, 1 silver medal and 1 copper medal and is currently No.1 on the medal list. :-)

Olympic Games begin today

Olympic Games will begin officially today in Athens. It's said that a 'Trojan Horse' will show up in the opening ceremony. It's a big secret to look forward.

China team won 28 gold medals in the last time. Though China women football team was defeated by German team by 0:8 the day before yestoday, hope the whole China team can do a good job in this year's Olympic Games.

Microsoft to continuously lose big money in China?
After the No.1 PC manufacture in China, 'Lenovo', decided not to bundle Windows in its PC for small cities and villages (announced on 3rd, August), another big manufacture in China, 'Founder', decided not to bundle Windows in its new fashionable T series PC (announced on 6th, August). Will other PC manufactures also do like this? It will cause Microsoft's takings in China continuously decrease greatly. It's forecasted that Lenovo will sell 1 million such kind of PC in 2004. Assume one set of Windows will cost 500 RMB. Then Microsoft will lose 500 million RMB (60 million USD) for only this deal this year.
