Check this out. Hiroshi Chonan in Japan built a new tool so you can make OpenSolaris Live USB sticks from your Windows computer (announcement, liveusb-creator). Hiroshi's site is in English and the tool is under CDDL (Common Development and Distribution License). Seems like a nice contribution to the community, eh? Nice, job Hiroshi. I don't have a Windows machine handy, but some guys here say it works well.

Leave it to the Japanese to push the envelope. Truly fascinating people.

It's just a shame it doesn't work on Windows 7 yet. Oracle/Sun should pick up this tool and make it a standard way to get an image onto a USB device, and make it easier for people to give OpenSolaris a spin.

Perhaps also make a better and more visible how-to for linux as well. I would hope we would want more people to move to OpenSolaris from the other platforms with as little hassle as possible.
