I kinda figured I was going to have a hard time fitting on this train today in Jiyugaoka. Usually, I'd just shove my way on like everyone else, but today I had a bunch of stuff with me and I wasn't in the mood to get jammed by the door. The rule in this situation is simple -- pack in as many humans as physically possible. So you are free to give it your very best shot. Anyway, this time I just stood back and watched as the door closed and opened a few times because arms and legs and bags were getting caught as more people attempted to board. But as you can see, they made it. They always do. The doors were finally able to close, and people were able to relax -- pressed up against the windows with their arms up in the air.

I love these posts. Talk about getting the most out of public transit.

The crowd doesn't seem to stop that lady in the red dress at all.

In certain areas of Rio de Janeiro people just ride hanging from the train - it's not underground. Reminds me of those old pictures of trains in Africa with folks riding on top of every wagon.
