We've been kicking around the idea of updating the Website Community Group proposal from last year, and we are starting that process based on Alan Burlison's excellent draft.

The proposal probably only needs some minor edits to make it current, and then we can submit it to the OGB on ogb-discuss for a vote. Some of my ideas on this are here and here. Basically, we'd like a Website CG to host infrastructure and content projects so website Core Contributors can do their work in a transparent, centralized, and organized way. It's just really that simple. And I think the vast majority of people directly involved in the issue agree. But there has been some confusion in recent days about who will lead the effort, so I was happy to see Bonnie Corwin post to website-discuss earlier today directing Michelle Olson to bring the proposal to fruition and lead the program. By the way, Michelle just joined our team. Welcome, Michelle!

As an additional step to move the website process along, the OGB today recognized a group of Core Contributors -- Michelle, Derek, Jim, Patrick -- with the responsibility of maintaining the website. The OGB also suspended the Website Editorial Committee with the presumption that committee members would be active on website-discuss. I was clear on the call that during the proposal process thus far, we have reached out to the committee members, and several have said they want to be involved. According to Bonnie's notice, Michelle will send details this week about how we move from here. So, while we work the CG proposal, we'll continue working on the website on list and in the project. We have a lot of work to do. Should be cool.
