Time in Kijima
Amazing what two years of time and a few seasons of heavy snow and blistering heat can do to an old abandoned inn way up in the mountains, eh? What's left of this building is in Kijimadaira, Japan, which is about an hour from Nagano. The first image is from the summer of 2005 and the other one is from the winter of 2007. I understand not much is left at the moment. I'll take another shot when I go out next month.

I am constantly amazed that properties within 1 hour of "major metro" areas go for multi-millions, whilst picturesque inns outside of the easy metro commute fall into ruin.
Could tele-commuting be solution this issue in Japan? or is the culture an unsurmountable obstacle?

Telecommuting in Japan is not that common. Face time is critical in the business culture here. So, everyone (pretty much, anyway) goes into the office -- all at the same time. :)
