Top 5 OpenSolaris Portals: Japan Leads
Now that all 12 OpenSolaris portal projects have been open for a while,
I wanted to check how the international traffic was flowing. So, here's
the top five portals in order in terms of page views to all of the
pages in each portal over the last 90 days: Japan, Spain, China, Brazil, Poland.
Japan has led by far since we opened the portals last year, but the
Spanish community is growing the fastest the last few months. All the
portals are growing, though, and that's very encouraging to see. I
created the Portals Project
to help address the problem of communication across language and
cultural barriers, and I can see we are just really dipping our toes in
this water. It's an ocean, actually. So much more to do. It's tough to draw conclusion from this data, especially if you know the communities involved, but the conversation flow is interesting and valuable.

Any chance of making these numbers public - at least to the portal leader?
It'd be helpful to know which pages are being accessed more frequently.

I'll email the leaders some data points. I can't keep track of each portal and respond to requests for specific pages, though. :)
