The New York Times is writing about Wikinews -- The Unassociated Press. From the article:

The system's primary check is its transparency. Inspired, in part, by the success of open source software development, the writing process is completely public. Anyone at any time can compose a new Wikinews article, edit an existing one and see an inventory of all prior changes.

Collaborative, transparent news reporting. I'll have to check this out.

This is great! This flies in the face of the NYT owner's concern of “a generation brought up on expecting quality news to be free.”
