Went to the Yokota Air Base today way outside Tokyo with a billion other people. Last minute trek. Good day. Interesting sights and sounds. I didn't get any jets in flight, but I never can catch those guys anyway so I no longer even try. Anyway, this is what caught my eye.

No pictures of the F22?

I was figuring that was the main reason for the big crowds on Sunday. It took me twenty minutes or so just to get off the train platform due to the crowd!

No, didn't see the 22s when I was there. I've never seen one up close, actually. Aren't they supposed to be hard to see? :)

This is where I first flew into Japan. I can remember being scared to death and excited all at the same time. It was the first time I had left the USA. I was 21 and in the US Navy. What a very good time I ended up having in Japan. Thanks for the pictures Jim!

Indeed. I am going to have to find some of those pictures and post them from the 90's.....HA!

Thanks again for sharing. I live in Japan through your pictures and blog. Still enamored with Japan and looking forward to returning.

You can't see F22s. I believe you need a special clearance in order to see one up close. Nice post.

Was there on Sunday to an F-2 and an F-4 then I went to the food court ;)
I also had my first trip to Japan via Yokota AB back in 1994 enroute to Kunsan AB in South Korea. Very nice place wish I could have managed a posting for a few years back then, but I am now living in Tachikawa with my wife and newborn daughter she was born on the 26th of September 2009.

Take care and hope to see some of you maybe next year at the Friendship festival.

BTW how many of you hit all of the festivals? We go to Yokosuka, Camp Zama, and Yokota. They are all very nice and I can recommend them all.
