Sun Microsystems Federal is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sun Microsystems targetting the special requirements of the US government. Because the government is generally every computer vendor's largest customer, an organization with the skills and capabilities of SunFed is required to comply to the various laws and procurement restrictions. Many have security clearances required to work with Homeland Security, DoD and Intelligence agencies. Sun Federal does about $1 billion in government business each year.
