M&Ms: Milestones and Members

M&M's are great, so here's a few with no calories whatever.

OpenJDK achieved another milestone last week, with the long awaited opening of the Mercurial workspaces. Hooray, and many thanks, Mark, for making it happen.

That means we can all get back to putting back bug fixes, and those of you who follow the compiler-dev group may have noticed a new name putting back fixes to the javac compiler. That's Maurizio Cimadamore, who joined Sun last year, and who has been busy working with Alex Buckley to identify and fix bugs in javac's modelling of the Java type system. That's not a task for the faint of heart, so more thanks to Alex and Maurizio.

Maurizio comes to us from the University of Bologna, Italy, where he worked on the studying language design issues, and reification of generic types. I'll leave him to fill in the details...
