A soccer legend has left us for the locker room in the sky. Thanks for the great years with the San Jose Earthquakes, Georgie B. You will be missed on the pitch.
The fact that you're posting this after experiencing him play on the West Coast is testament to his stature. I live in Belfast & was brought up about half a mile from George's home where his father still lives. He was about 15yrs older than me. His funeral is due on Saturday nearby and tens of thousands are likely to turn out to pay their respects. Some might say his fight with alcoholism tainted his fantastic soccer achievements but regardless he's always enjoyed a massive fan base "back home".
