Final Day Approaches

Well, my final day as a Sun employee approaches. Since being kicked out by Sun UK as part of its cost cutting exercise I have managed to find another job, which is both good news and shows that there are other companies out there that want Oracle skilled people and know how to use them to their advantage.

Since being told of my redundancy so that Sun could save money, the main other news I have seen from Sun is its continued spending of money to buy other companies - Tarantella, Seebeyond and Storagetek. The cost of Storagetek alone was $4.1 billion.

Yeah, don't you just love corporate logic? How much money is Sun saving by continuing to inflate top salaries at the expense of real workers? Well, lets look at SEC filings. In 2003, Jonathan made 425k base salary with no bonus. In 2004, his base salary jumped to 559k with a bonus of 108k. And he still has his cute ponytail.
