Hi!

Long long time without writing here! Back with some news! UFRJ SAI inscription was done. Our professor has already gotten his access at Learning Connection and we are planning Java classes for next semester. Cool!
We will be making the power of sun Tech Talk about these week or next one. Then we will start planning the J2EE, Sun Studio and Solaris Tech Talks... I'm waiting the arrival of my notebook for that.
After showing Solaris, we will make efforts to start the OSUG.

Hi!
After some time, I decide to install BeleniX back. It got installed successfully and things are working nicely. Still have some bugs to fix but nothing very problematic... I still got to configure my network... that's maybe problematic. I received some useful links by email with Tips and step by step guides about how installing Solaris or OpenSolaris. Thanks to Angel Camacho! Follow the links:

Hi!

I've installed Nexenta! It's working but my graphic interface still isn't working. The generic 'ati' driver doesn't work for ATI X series... (I have a Radeon X850XT) so, even configuring the xorg.conf, nothing happens after startx command but a fast black screen.
To solve all my problems with partitioning I had installed BeleniX first and should have stayed with him. Because of a blackout on my neighborhood, even with my No-Break, my GRUB installation got corrupted and to fix the Boot, I had to use WinXP installation CD. Instead of fixing GRUB, I decided to install Nexenta, now that everything was OK with the partitions and slices. Everything went right, but I'm still not able to start X and I cannot connect to the internet without adsl-setup... I got find another way to configure the network, and try to install another drives.

Hi evbdy,

The info EXAME magazine made a research about Brazilian enterprises and selected the top 100 in the usage of TI. Together, they showed statistics about the Operating Systems they use in their servers. It's said that 41% of the enterprises have Solaris installed, 43% have IBM AIX, 61% have RedHat Linux, 78% have Windows2000 and 96% have Windows Server. HP UX stays with 38%, Windows NT with 35%, SUSE with 26%, Netware 15%, Debian 14%, Mandriva 3%, and others 22%.
About the most used development technologies, Java stays on the TOP, being used at 73% of the enterprises. VB and ASP.Net stay with 67%, C/C++ with 35%, PHP with 34%, C# with 31%, Delphi with 28%, Ajax 27%, Cobol 27%, Cold Fusion 27% and others with 33%.
I think it's good for us to know this kind of information.

Good News!

SAI subscriptions were sent to Sun by our professors (Thanks Villas and Rincon!) and are waiting to be approved.
Hi!
After our Tech Demos, we got names and e-mails we turned into a Google Group that will be our way to stay in contact with people interested in the project. Today, the group has 39 nine people and it's increasing! Seems great! We are still negotiating UFRJ SAI inclusion... it's being quite difficult... :(

Hi Everybody!

I got a surprise when I accessed my blogs admin page! A new option appeared letting me create my external blog.
But better than this are the news about the Tech Demos that I and Luiz Aquino did at UFRJ on Monday and Tuesday of this week. It was our first one and we decided to talk about Java Apps using NetBeans. We got full class for both presentations - about 60 students per demo. We had the presence of a professor that is helping us a lot with our project (Thanks Villas!). A great Java project at UFRJ may be coming!
Our SAI registration is coming too! Many students are interested to have access to Sun's material through the Academic Initiative program and are planning to have their certifications.
We got people interested in Solaris too! What great!
We got some technical problems too. With short time, and doing things by the first time, we got troubles to schedule a room and tribulations with bureaucracy things. But, in the end, things just happened alright.
We are already planning our next presentation!
I will keep blogging news.
