"Language is Use" .. now if we could only apply the same idea to software, hardware, solutions, and ideas we develop.

Comments:

What Wittgenstein meant was that "meaning" was developed in "use". In fact, I think he also said "language" is "play". Nevertheless, I'm still not quite sure what you're saying here by "apply"-ing "the same idea" to "software, hardware, solutions, and ideas". What same idea?

correct you are .. so let me clarify .. too many of our products and approaches seem like they're developed based on a loose idea of what is useful from a 50k ft view - rather than developed out of legitimate useful practice .. take the analogy to the linux kernel vs the hurd .. the linux kernel succeeds because it is inherently useful (and thus becomes as commonplace as language) whereas the hurd (which has some great ideas) is far off both conceptually and practically.
