8 GB on a mobile phone ?
I just bought a 8 GB Micro SD SDHC card for my E90...and it works!
Now I have Wikipedia, maps of most areas of the world for the navigation system, Putty, several dictionaries and some other software installed on my mobile phone. I will have to wait some months before the 32 GB SDHC is out...hey...there's space for an OOo installation left on the device. Does anybody know about details about a StrongARM port ?

Developer certificates on Symbian Series 60 v3
I have a really bad feeling about the signing process for Series 60 phones. If someone wants to create an OpenSource application for Sybian Series 60 mobile phones that is capable to make use of network access or using DRM functions then the signing process requires my IMEI address. The IMEI address is a unique product identifier.
I'm asking OpenSource developers to develop an alternative to this signature process eg. by using OpenSSL infrastucture to sign the binaries and to make the signature process easier for developers that do not want to pay a recurring fee to sign the own applications.

I got a new gadget!
The contract with my mobile provider expired and I had the opportunity to get a new gadget. I selected the new Nokia E90 Communicator. I'm really impressed about this device as it contains most current technology like UMTS + HSDPA (connection speed up to 3.6 Mbit/s), WLAN (g standard), VoIP, PoC, Quad band, 3.2 MPixel camera, GPS receiver, integrated radio tuner, video telephony capability and Java (MIDP 2.0).
I'm asking myself when the iMobile fans will have such capabilities... :)

added tv channels....
Last weekend I went to Jever to visit my family and to meet several friends. On saturday I took a look at a TV shop of a friend of mine and asked him if he has a satellite antenna that can be fixed at a window. He had such a gadget and then I asked him to add a digital sat receiver to it. I got all of the equipment for about 100 EUR. After returning back to Hamburg I had to try it out: I was fascinated to have now more than 760 tv channels and to have more than 150 radio channels. After sorting the favorites I came to a list of about 50 tv channels that is worth to be stored within the favorites list. All in all DVB terrestical has been disabled now within my home...
One thing was a really good experience: After configuring the device I activated the online update service. Then I set that device to stand-by. After switching the ON button again the device told me that a new firmware has been downloaded via satellite and it has been installed....what a good service. This remembers me the product update service notification of OpenOffice.org that opens a landing page for releases like 2.2.1 but within the current developer build it triggers the download of the next version when available (currently SRC680_m231).

New: OpenOffice.org 2.1.0 Release Candidate 1 (build OOE680_m5)
Release Candidate 1 (build OOE680_m5) has been uploaded to ftp master. The Linux build already has one known issue (that is caused by
i71899 which will be fixed later in 2.2): the system integration doesn't work. As a workaround you can fix it by correcting the symlink in /usr/bin which points to a wrong location. The problem of the wrong path will be fixed in the next build.
Full localized builds and language packs can be found at
http://oootranslation.services.openoffice.org/pub/OpenOffice.org/2.1.0rc1/
Currently Solarisx86 languagepacks and all Windows builds are not visible. The web server hasn't updated the content yet.
Please give the version a try and communicate show stoppers within the releases mailing list.
You will find the RC builds including a source tarball within the "contrib/rc/2.1.0rc1/" directory on the servers of our mirror network:

Testing new features...
I'd like to make you aware that the OpenOffice.org 2.0.4 release is not so far away anymore and some new features have been integrated. Those who like to help can check the features posted into the feature list that has been created as a Wiki page on

against the current src680_m180 developer snapshot build.
en-US Builds for Solaris Sparc, Solaris X86, Linux and Windows can be downloaded from
http://download.openoffice.org/680/index.html
and Mac OS X builds can be downloaded from

New: OOo-Dev2.0 developer snapshot src680m176
Developer snapshot build src680m176 which installs as OOo-Dev 2.0 has been uploaded to ftp master. The rename of the productname to OOo-dev allows the installation of the OpenOffice.org snapshot parallel to an OpenOffice.org 2.0 'final' (released) version.
I've added language packs of 15 languages to
http://oootranslation.services.openoffice.org/pub/OpenOffice.org/680_m176/.
As language packs haven't been developed to work with a developer snapshot build I cannot guarantee that they install smoothly upon an OOoDev2.0 build. I've just tested an installation of a language pack on Windows and it worked. You just need to redirect the installation path to the OOoDev2.0 installation directory. Then the language pack can be switched tothe desired language via /tools/options/language settings/languages. Afterwards an office restart is necessary.
