BeleniX LiveUSB
Anil Gulecha is a III year Engineering Student at JSS Academy, Bangalore. He has successfully created a LiveUSB version of BeleniX. Thanks to Anil, BeleniX 0.5 can boot from a USB thumb drive. The basic ability to boot from USB was alway present in OpenSolaris. However, it was complicated and not very practical. Anil's work has made it a simple task for any user. All you have to do is run the script that Anil developed and you have BeleniX installed on your USB memory stick. I am thrilled to announce that BeleniX LiveUSB boots to a graphical desktop in 40 seconds. He is planning to make this script and associated utilities available for the Solaris Express via the LiveMedia Project.

Anil crossed paths with Moinak Ghosh at the RVCE Tech Fest - a technical symposium for engineering students in Bangalore. Moinak was there to deliver a talk on OpenSolaris. Anil was one the students who grabbed a BeleniX LiveCD that was distributed. He looked at the Belenix Project list during the event and evinced interest in the LiveUSB project. Being new to OpenSolaris, he had to learn from scratch. Moinak helped him along the way. Two months after he started, Anil completed the project and made his announcement to the OpenSolaris community.

Special appreciation to Moinak for spending the time to mentor this OpenSolaris community contributor. I am looking forward to more such Anil's from the University interactions of the Sun India Engineering Center.
