Elf

4 stars (out of 5).

Will Ferrell is Buddy the Elf.

Raised by Bob Newhart (Papa Elf) under the watchful eye of Edward Asner (Santa), he journeys from the North Pole to New York City, in search of his father, James Caan (Sonny Corle... erm, Walter).

What's not to love about this movie? You'd have to have a heart of stone. Or coal.

I just watched this movie over the weekend. It sure had me laughing most of the time! James Caan as the father just capped it off.

When will movie companies learn to market their product properly? When this movie was released I thought it looked like one of the biggest pieces of crap of the year. However, my wife rented it on DVD release and we loved it! This happens with so many movies, we watch it on DVD and say "if I'd known it was this good we would have seen it in theatre". Same goes with the previews on DVD: we'll watch a trailer for a movie just/soon released on DVD and the trailer will be so much better than the theatre-release trailers.
