The first Front Range Open Solaris User Group (FROSUG) meeting held at Sun's Broomfield campus last night (08/11/05) was definitely a hit!

I attended along with about 20 Sun employees and 20 techies from outside Sun. Jerry Jelinek gave a great presentation on OpenSolaris from a developers perspective. And, Lisa Week and Moriah Waterland did great as MCs, along with Ginnie Wray who topped off the evening with a swag giveaway (OpenSolaris t-shirts and baseball caps). Having pizza at the beginning worked great, and the discussions were really interesting and enjoyable. Steve O'Grady from RedMonk did a nice blog entry on the event.

It's been fun to work on the FROSUG planning. We did our homework, but the results exceeded our expectations. This was a great start!

Comments:

I'm not sure how I missed this, but I did. And considering that I'm just up the street... Will the FROSUG be meeting regularly?

Yes. We plan to have monthly meetings. I'll add a blog entry when we know when it is. Eventually, we will have meetings on set days (ie. every third tuesday of the month etc...). Send an email to: ug-frosug-subscribe@opensolaris.org to get on the mailing list. Cheers, Jim
