Bits and pieces

I have some bits and pieces of information that I felt would be good to share with Solaris , Sun Studio and Open Source enthusiasts.

In India , Sun has organized a Code for Freedom contest in which any student from a recognized university can participate. This contest hopes to educate the student community about the Open Source technologies and encourage them to contribute towards many of the projects. The contest will run for over a period of six months and some fantastic prizes are up for grabs. You can read more about this contest here

The Intel Developer Forum is being held in Taipei in October and in San Francisco next week. For a listing of all Solaris Developer events , go to http://developers.sun.com/solaris/community/events.jsp

I will be at the Sun Studio booth at the IDF and am looking forward to a dialog with people about their experiences with Sun Studio and Solaris on the Intel platform . If you have not yet heard about the Solaris Express Developer Edition, which enables you to download Solaris on a laptop , SXDE for short, read and download about it at http://developers.sun.com/sxde. There is a good article titled "Why you will like Sun Studio" written by an intern at Sun about the benefits of using Sun Studio. Read it here. Also check out the New to Solaris Center on SDN.
