Mozilla Firefox 3.0 Beta 4 for Solaris



Firefox 3 Beta 4 です。Beta 4 が出てからなかなか Solaris バイナリが用意されなかったのですが今みたらありました。自分の環境では Windows や Mac OS X ではすでに Beta 4 をデフォルトのブラウザにしてしまいました。Solaris 版はまだ試していませんが、Windows や Mac OS X ではずいぶん軽くなった感じがします。 リリースノートはこちらから。

Firefox 3 Beta 3 for Solaris



Solaris 用の Firefox 3 Beta 3 が出ていたんですね。大曽根さんから教えてもらいました。
Windows や Linux と違い Solaris 用は日本語版がないわけですが、そこはいつものようにごにょごにょして日本語パックを当ててさっそく使い始めました。日本語パックを当てる方法は以下にメモしておいてあります。

すっかり Mozilla 関係はご無沙汰しちゃっているため何が新しいのだか拡張されたのだかよくわかりません… (^^;) ひとつすぐに気が付くのが日本語入力が必要のない箇所ではちゃんと日本語入力が無効になることですね。この修正の件はずっと前にブログに書いてたわけですが、もう一度、中野さん、お疲れ様でした〜すばらしいです。今のところ SXDE 1/08 x86 上でもちゃんと動いていますよ。

もう一つ、リリースノートにもありますがフォームでは GTK ではネイティブの L&F が使われるようになったんですね。Solaris ではちゃんと Nimbus が使われています。(左が Firefox 2, 右が 3 です) すばらしい!! これだけでもずいぶん雰囲気が変わるものですね。

Customizing Reply Headers on Thunderbird

If you don't like the default of reply header, you can customize it on Preferences dialog. In my case, I don't like just "<Author> wrote:" and want to put Date like

You can get the descriptions of these preferences from the following sites,
Double click on the preference will invoke the dialog. You can change the value on it.



When mailnews.reply_header_type=2, it displays Date but it will be localized. I understand it depends on your platform and locale. If you don't want, you can set the locale to en-US in mailnews.reply_header_locale.

Ubuntu で Thunderbird の返信ヘッダの日付を英語に戻せない

あれ〜おかしいな〜前から動いてなかったのでしたっけ…

Ubuntu 7.10 で Mozilla Thunderbird の「さ んは書きました」問題を直そうと設定していたのですが、日付が英語に戻りません。しかも文字化けしちゃいます…


user_pref("mailnews.reply_header_locale", "en-US");
が動いてないようです。前は動いていたような気がしていたのですが…以前の設定を確認したら
user_pref("mailnews.reply_header_type", 1);
でした…つまり動いてなかったので日付を表示させてない設定で使っていたのですね…ん～困ったなぁ…

よくわからなかったのですが Fedora などではちゃんと切り替えられたので Ubuntu 側にバグレポートしておきました。
  • [Bug 157638] reply_hearder_locale to en-US does not work on Ubuntu
バグなのかどうかわかりませんが、直るまでは
% env LC_TIME=C /usr/bin/mozilla-thunderbird
として使うことにします。
