Netflix recommeds Star Wars

What do you think, Han Solo action figure #7, should we add Star Wars to our Netflix queue?

Where the Sci-Fi Channel Gets Its Ideas SciFi

Beware!  The Sci-Fi Channel is releasing yet another snake movie!  MegaSnake must be the twelfth stupid snake movie, following in the lame footsteps of movies like Snakehead Terror, Python, King Cobra, Komodo vs Cobra, and Snake King.

I can only imagine that the "creative" minds over at the Sci-Fi channel have this in their office to determine the next original movie.

Cool Movie of Solar Eclipse Photographed From Space SciFi

Neatorama posted this story, but they only linked to still photos of the eclipse.  Nasa's site has the whole movie, which is much cooler because it, y'know, moves and stuff.  Yes, technically it's a "lunar transit of the sun" but that phase doesn't play in Peoria.

Watch the movie in large mode, if possible.

These Are Not The Mailboxes You're Looking For SciFi

R2-D2 Mailbox

The URL on the mailboxes isn't working (yet).  Here are the obligatory one-liners:

  • Still no word on the Jar-Jar Binks port-a-potties.
  • I, for one, welcome our droid overlords!
  • "When you want your mail sent to a galaxy far, far away."
  • "Help me, Postmaster General Kenobi, you're our only hope."

Tesla Coil Lightning Car Protection SciFi

This is the coolest anti-theft device ever.  He calls it the Eye of Sauron.  I think it looks more like Emperor Palpatine's force lightning, but I'm a huge nerd.

There are more pictures of his Tesla coil from his web page

Starship Size Comparison Charts SciFi

My friend Brad sent me Dan Carlson's Starship Comparison Chart.  It's pretty cool, but also a few years old and missing a few ships.  So, I checked it there is an update and I found Jeff Russell's Starship Dimentions site.  It has multiple scale views so you can see everything from Chewbacca to the Dyson Sphere from Star Trek: TNG.  Pure geeky fun.

For Hard Core Sci-Fi Fans SciFi

USS Enterprise If you are a hard core Trekkie (or Trekker), then this is for you. This scale model U.S.S. Enterprise measures approximately 32.7" x 16" and comes with stand. Cost?  Only US$1200.  Maybe I should have said, "hard core, rich Trekker."

Not a Star Trek fan?  How about Star Wars?  You can also buy the Millennium Falcon Studio Scale replica  for only US$2200.  Use the force, and your Visa card, Luke!
