Windows still stupid Computers

I know that Sun has made our peace with Microsoft, but there is still something that bugs me about Windows: you still can't cut and paste a directory listing.

All I want to do is save the filenames of a directory (folder) into a file. Sure I can do this at the DOS level ("dir > filelist.txt") but shouldn't I be able to do this from the Windows explorer?
