| Piracy By Google | Computers |
I was visiting a web site and it contained some "Ads by Google" and one of those ads said "Get Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith Download and Watch Now. Only $0.99"
Now, I know that you can get the hand-held camera version from many underground sites, but I've never seen piracy so brazenly open and advertised. I find it disturbing that Google so readily supports this when it goes against their "do no evil" policy. I also find it strange that Lucasfilm, which has a reputation for aggressively going after such things, can't find something when it's in plain sight.

| The New Duct Tape | Life |
Back in the 80s, duct tape became the cliched punchline to any fix it need, and not without good cause. Duct tape really was used to fix many things. However, I find that I'm using less and less duct tape these days and instead using clear packing tape. It's nearly as strong and much less unsightly. It can also repair things that duct tape can't, like torn books or peeling stickers on my kid's toys. Scotch tape isn't really strong enough (or sticky enough) to do these kinds of things in any permanent capacity.
Also, packing tape is much less likely to leave any residue behind. Ever try to remove old duct tape (or masking tape)? It can really ruin a surface after a while. Conversely, packing tape comes off fairly cleanly. I used it to put up some indoor Christmas lights last season and it worked great. No holes or tape residue when I was done.
It's also not too bad at taping boxes closed prior to mailing them. Who knew!

As advertised today on sun.com, Sun and Microsoft are going to talk about the progress made since burying the hatchet one year ago. You can view the webcast at 9:30am Pacific time today (May 13). The fact that today is Friday the 13th is sheer coincidence!

| Happy 05-05-05! | Life |
Today's date is 05/05/05! Yeah! For you Brits, that's 05.05.05.
The next time something like this happens, it will be 06-06-06.
I predict a few "Revelations" news stories in a year and a month.
