Wendy's Gives Me The Finger Humor

I bought some Wendy's "99 Cent" chicken nuggets today.

The price: $1.19

Plus tax.

I blame Anna Ayala.

Why Insurance Cost So Much Life

My daughter recently broke her leg. We were far from home when it happened so we went to an emergency room. Several days later, we went to our own doctor for a followup. Here is a breakdown of the two bills:

Provider Staff and Services Performed Cost
Emergency Room
  • Triage Nurse
    • Medicine dispenced
  • ER Nurse
    • Vitals taken
    • Food and drink given to daughter
    • Constant attention
  • X-Ray Techs (x2)
    • X-Rays taken (x4)
    • X-Rays duplicated for us to take home
  • First Doctor
    • Physical examination
    • Examine x-rays
  • Second Doctor
    • Examine x-rays
  • Techs (x2)
    • Apply splint
$1000
Normal Clinic
  • Nurse
    • Showed us to a room
  • Only Doctor
    • Examine ER x-rays
    • Talked to another doctor
    • Opted to do nothing more
    • Scheduled another appointment
$2000

Now, we don't pay all of that since our insurance picks up almost all of it. But what's interesting is that the clinic did basically nothing but charged twice as much as the ER that did a whole bunch of things. Note that the doctors at the clinic determined that my daughter didn't even need a cast so they didn't do much more than look at the same x-rays that the ER made. I even took off her splint, not them.

I'm wondering how much the followup appointment (with x-rays this time) will cost.

Read Email On Your Lawn Mower! Life

OK, maybe not, but I found that this article which claims that Hewlett-Packard is currently selling two home PCs that, after rebate, cost less than a rear-bag lawn mower at Sears.

Uh, OK. Why that comparison? Why not "costs less than some DVD players" or "costs less than your first prom?" Seriously, why a lawn mower, and a rear-bag one at that?

Who Is This Store For? Humor

If the store on the right is for women, who is the store on the left for?

Maybe they sell these.

Dancing to the Oldies Kids

We went to Disneyland in June and I pulled this video clip of my daughter, Hayley, dancing to surf music while we were at Disney's California Adventure. I may need to go buy some 60s surf CDs now.

See the video.

Didn't I just cover this?

Here is another sign of Firefly worship. The back of the shirt should say, "I jumped on the bandwagon too late!"
