Google Cat Lady is a Hypocrite Computers

Is it me or is the lady who complained that she could see her cat in Google Streets and hypocrite for then allowing the New York Times to print a photo of her, and her cat, from inside of her house to be published for everyone to see?

It's just you. One is, to her, a privacy invasion by an uninvited guest, while the other thing was invited by her. Of course, I don't agree that satellite photography is an invasion of privacy, even if sometimes it can look slightly into one's windows -- if it could clearly look into our homes, then I'd care.

It's you. If naked pictures of your girlfriend were to appear on the internet, it *does* make a difference if she posted them, or I did.

Did you take the pictures while standing in the street?

Regardless, if I complain that her pictures are there and make you take them down, and then post them myself, it weakens my original complaint.

Let's say I did. She's well within her rights to ask me to remove them. They were taken without her consent (that's why Cop shows blur criminals faces). Similarly, to say she's somehow not allowed to post pictures of herself after this seems bizarre to me.

I found it curious she was complaining about privacy, but then on the BoingBoing entry, the image was submitted along with a street map pointing out where she lived. So to complain about lack of privacy, she shared her full name and address...??

I think she does not really mind this particular picture, but wants to raise awareness of the fact that there could be real privacy issues with this kind of picture.
