Tesla Coil Lightning Car Protection SciFi

This is the coolest anti-theft device ever.  He calls it the Eye of Sauron.  I think it looks more like Emperor Palpatine's force lightning, but I'm a huge nerd.

Unfortunately, the photo is time lapse and the effect in real time isn't quite so daunting to thieves. On the other hand, I always wanted a Tesla coil. I tried building one as a kid, but a winding a million windings on the secondary coil was a little more tedious than the average teenager can take.
