Jabber

Sometimes the numbers and scale of virtual universities gets pretty amazing. For a current proposal in India with the Ministry of Education, they are looking for learning and collab tools to support 100,000 users per course and a current user population of over 560,000 students today and with more to come. In search of an IM solution, I came across Jabber who recently came through the Sun Benchmark Center and scaled to over 1 million users on 8 T2000s on Solaris 10. I spoke to Joe at Jabber and we're on our way to market worldwide as part of the e-Learning-AT-sun-DOT-com initiative for 2007
