The MIT Media Lab has launched a new research initiative to develop a $100 laptop—a technology that could revolutionize how we educate the world's children.

A lot of heavy hitters are backing that project and recently a few of the MIT engineers have found their way into the JXTA arena (via MyJXTA, reference JXTAapplication). It seems that they are looking at using JXTA to manage the mesh networks for those devices.

we'll look to build our jxta community in education commons to promote best practices in architecture and implementation.

Comments:

I am glad to hear JXTA is being considered for the network management. Do you know if these efforts are taking place in open source form? I would be interested in hearing more about such effort. Cheers, Mohamed
