If M$ with 4,500 patents is scary for OSS, what about 15K This story , from information week, suggests that M$ is being more aggressive in the IP space than perhaps previously thought.

If 4,500 patents in M$'s hands makes the OpenSource community quake  what does 15K do?

But given that Lessing couldn't get the Supreme Court to see sense for Copyright, what hope do we have that the government will do the right thing for software patents?

A far cry from the days when the Court would act aggressively against monopolists

von Mises on Management (sort of) wsj subscription required  which is a pity because this is a good writeup on the importance of harnessing distributed information.

Digital eWeek inaccessible eWeek is a marginally interesting traderag. As I'm currently working in a "flexoffice" (meaning no fixed location, other than a building, and often working from home or other campuses) I figured converting my subscription to purely electronic would be a handy thing.

What the folks at eWeek can't be bothered to mention is that instead of distributing html, xml, pdf or even postscript they use some sort of custom reader called zinio ... which runs only on wintel and macs.

So, they've made me a nonsubscriber. No doubt they'll count me in their readership for advertising rate purposes, while cheerfully ignoring the compliant I filed.

Ah well, no doubt their special software has compensations which make losing readers worthwhile.
