*sigh* Unix dead, news at 11

Since Gartner's silly pronouncement the pundits are in play. The silliest bit I've seen yet is this gem: litigious process than, say, porting from Solaris to AIX. As if porting from one Standards compliant (and Unix certified) system to another would require any litigation. And this guy thinks he's defending Unix against Linux.

Gartner is the biggest waste of money any enterprise could spend. I recommend CIOs go to the local public university and find a grad student in CS or MIS and hire them part time to do general industry research.

For software and specific IT functions such as storage, there are boutique consultancies which are far more useful than Gartner.

If an enterprise does need general IT consulting, I think Forrester Research is far better.

That sounds as silly as the rumor that khb is gone. I guess I'll follow you over to blogspot again, and then I hope back here. Cheers.
