In my first contribution about SunSPOT I forgot to describe what it is and what can you do with it. SPOT is abbreviation of SMALL PROGRAMMABLE OBJECT TECHNOLOGY.

With SunSPOT you can build an autonomous robot, experiment with wireless routing protocols, or create just about any radio-controlled sensor device you can imagine! SunSPOT was developed in Sun Microsystems Laboratories, this Java-based platform greatly simplifies development and experimentation with small wireless devices, and it’s open to development community. Architecture is on the picture. Sensors on the board are 3-axis accelerometer, light and temperature sensors, eight 3-colors LEDS, 2 momentary switches, 6, analog inputs, 5 GPIO pins and 4 high current output pins and ADC.

All this makes from SunSPOT quite powerful device :).

Comments:

It's good to see work on robots coming back to the original home of the word, in the Czech Republic ;^)
