Peter Korn's Weblog The collected occasional commentary by Peter Korn, Accessibility Architect at Sun Microsystems, Inc. |
Another commercial endorsement of "Access by Contract" - this time on the MacintoshI've been talking for a little while about Access by Contract, and of course noting when commercial companies support it. So even though it isn't on a Sun or UNIX platform, I wanted to publically note another commercial company going the "supported API" route to accessibility (on another computing platform no less!). As noted in Macsimumnews, and also in MacWorld online, Mariner Software's release of MacJournal version 3.2 explicitly supports the Apple Accessibility API to support users with disabilities. Here's a quote from their press release as hosted by TMCnet:
Utilizing Apple's Accessibility API, this version of Mariner's popular journaling application showcases a host of advanced accessibility features for users with vision disabilities and also addresses Section 508 guidelines for accessibility.
This is yet another step toward accessibility being recognized and built-in by everyone, and another step away from accessibility being a tiny, specialized market that is mostly ignored by the mainstream. (2005-09-22 17:32:17.0) Permalink Comments:
