Workshop on Sun Technologies
Me and my friends here organised a workshop here on Sun technoloies at TCE on 26th September.We started at nine thirty in the morning People were so interested and our sessions prolonged to seven o clock in the evening We had the following sessions ,
1)Sun Grid Engine - Shridhar who currently uses Sun Grid Engine for a grid computing project talked on Grid Computing in general and gave an insight into Sun Grid Engine and its performance.
2)Dtrace Demo - Nachiappan and Balachandran presented the Dtrace demo .Nachiappan started from basics of Dtrace as some second year students were also there and they went on telling about dlanguage and dscripts and they ran some scripts .
3)Java EE + Netbeans - Narayanan , Subramanian Pradeep handled the session This was a hands on session We had booked a lab earlier and we installed Netbeans , Glassfish in all the machines.Students worked on them while narayanan and pradeep parellely explaining.Narayanan gave an elaborate talk on Beans.Subramanian talked on glassfish and showed a demo of creating and deploying application (war , ear etc) in SJSAS
4)Apache Derby - Agalya tought basics of Apache Derby and database connectivity . but she dint have much time to elaborate as we were already running short of time 
5)Java ME - Subramanian showed a demo of creating mobile applications using Netbeans and people really enjoyed it 
6)Solaris Zones- I talked on Solaris containers and showed a demo of creating , configuring and installing zones. Lot of questions were thrown to me indeed.
My friend geetha priya was also there helping us throught out the workshop.Students were really finding these technologies interesing and they had loads of questions that all sessions prolonged. We were so happy that we were able to do some effective knowledge transfer.
