OpenSolaris blazed new trails at JavaOne...and our community got alot of visiblity--participating in the historic JDL Java Licensing announcement, and already BeleniX is shipping a distro that includes the JDK! Other fun at JavaOne included holding a joint User group meeting with the Java SE gang, but my personal favorite moments from the month: Burning CDs at the JavaOne Booth...what a blast --for a Marketing "Gurl" like me, it was cool. And people liked it too. Lots of folks walked up and asked for a CD of NexentaOS...and they got one, hot off the Ultra20 "griddle".
(editor's note: Dan Price and Stephen Lau deserve a golf clap for setting up a script so that burning the cd could be accomplished by clicking on an icon on the desktop. And they also deserve some extra drink tickets for the Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome they must be suffering --dealing with the Marketing Gurl in action can be really stressful...)
Patrick Finch was the Law in town...posting awesome and keen rebuttals to strange happenings in the press...
And hey, keep an eye on the Freedom Toaster we built at JavaOne...That was huge--and I"m told it was shipped last week and might be getting installed in the next few weeks.
